What I learned: Israel Keyes and Destruction
Happy New Year Everyone!
This post is going to be about one of the things that the Israel Keyes case taught me.
I hope you enjoy!
From listening to the FBI Interrogation tapes, you get the feeling that Israel Keyes wasn't much of a contributor when it came to society. His life revolved around taking from society and conducting destructive behaviour. This destructive behaviour is ever so present in today's society, with the constant news stories about crime and serial murder cases. Everyone is fascinated and I have probably contributed to the increase in attention of certain cases, like the one that you're reading about now. This has its pros and cons but I stand by my decision and take full accountability for releasing the information.
From my perspective, putting the interrogation tapes on YouTube was worth it. For all of the graphic content and disturbing moments, the tapes give us a clear insight into the mind of a monster. Israel's perspective was unique and different. Not many people view life from a serial killer lens after all. The tapes help us to realise the types of people that are out there and the danger that they pose. Raising awareness about people like Keyes is only going to help us all out in the future. Apparently, there's some sort of prediction about a surge of serial killers in 2030. Crazy right? Well, given the economic climate and insane societal transformations, this doesn't sound too unbelievable.
I truly believe in karma and the idea of energy exchange. If you put something out, you tend to get it back. I've experienced this first hand on many occasions and you probably have as well.
Israel could disguise his serial killer side but the universe was always watching him. You can only fake something for so long before cracks begin to form. Israel's 14-year killing spree was catching up to him. All of that destructive energy was leading to his downfall. His lack of discipline and control was a big sign that he had been indulging in his destructive vice's for far too long. From the daily drinking, to the transexual porn and drugs, he was trying to avoid facing up to something. Perhaps it was deep seeded guilt or a perceived failure on his part. His siblings weren't evil like him and were living good lives. They had optimistic futures which revolved around religion for the most part. Keyes was destructive and therefore, the exact opposite.
I've learned now that nothing goes unpunished and Keyes was already suffering the consequences of his choice's many years prior to his arrest. He enjoyed causing destruction but always struck me as the 'edgy' type. It was as if he had never grown up and that might just be my perspective of him but who knows?
All of his destructive choices led to his downfall. It is ironic how he ended up dying partly as a result of asphyxiation, like many of his victims. He never expected to be captured and always envisioned a shoot out scenario, a quick death. I'm not sure how long it took for him to pass out from blood loss (from the self inflicted wrist cut) but it goes to show that the universe wasn't going to let him get away from the pain that he'd caused without some form of consequence.
